Right now, your school, along with 163 other ARAMARK-serviced accounts are participating in a program called Recyclemania. RecycleMania is a 10-week long friendly competition to promote waste reduction activities to participating campus communities. During the competition each school reports recycling and trash data which are then ranked according to who collects the largest amount of recyclables per capita, the largest amount of total recyclables, the least amount of trash per capita, or have the highest recycling rate. With each week’s reports and rankings, participating schools watch how their results fluctuate against other schools and use this to rally their campus communities to reduce and recycle more. Last year, ARAMARK was proud to recognize 142 campus partners that recycled almost 12 million pounds of waste (paper, corrugated cardboard, bottles and cans, and food service organics). RecycleMania is supported by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s WasteWise program and the National Recycling Coalition (NRC), and is coordinated as a project of NRC’s College and University Recycling Council (CURC).
