Invigorating San Fran's Mission Neighborhood Center

ARAMARK, a global leader in professional services, today announced that San Francisco will be the next stop on the ARAMARK Building Community national tour, an initiative that will enhance community centers and create long-term commitments with community centers in 30 cities over the next year. Through this initiative, ARAMARK has teamed up with Mission Neighborhood Centers, Inc. (MNC), a non-profit organization that provides social services to low-income neighborhoods of San Francisco.

On Thursday, Sept. 25, ARAMARK employee volunteers in the Northern California area will participate in a day of service, refurbishing the MNC's Capp Street Center, located at 362 Capp Street. With this event, ARAMARK looks forward to beginning a long-term commitment where volunteers will come back to the Center, offering expertise and resources related to health and wellness, workforce readiness and basic services, such as food and clothing drives and nutritional education, as well as job skills and interview training to enhance and strengthen MNC's programs.

"At ARAMARK, we have a legacy of putting community needs first. Our corporate resources, combined with our passion for volunteerism, allow us to positively impact social issues in a powerful way, and in a manner that is truly relevant to our business strengths, culture and the community," said Prentiss Hall, Regional Vice President ARAMARK Business Services and local ARAMARK Building Community sponsor. "We look forward to creating a long-term partnership with Mission Neighborhood Centers, which will allow us to leverage our energy and expertise throughout San Francisco in a meaningful way."

During the day-long event, ARAMARK employee volunteers, in partnership with City Year, a group dedicated to engaging young people in full-time community service and ARAMARK's volunteerism partner, will participate in a variety of hands-on enhancement projects around the Capp Street Center including: revitalizing the center's courtyard by landscaping, painting and building benches and storage units, refurbishing the theater/auditorium by painting walls and inspirational murals and painting the center's kitchen facility, among other restorative projects.

"Mission Neighborhood Centers, as an anchor community institution, has been relied upon by thousands of families over the years," said Sam Ruiz, executive director, Mission Neighborhood Centers. "This partnership with ARAMARK is a welcomed and natural progression for both parties, and will help make a lasting impact by allowing us to use the revitalized space to impact more children and families and generate increased funding for years to come."

Through ARAMARK Building Community, volunteers use their expertise to help youth and adults develop critical, employable work skills and connect them to career opportunities; support families with nutrition and wellness education; provide basic needs such as food and clothing; and help identified partners run cleaner, safer and more efficient facilities on an ongoing basis.
