Learning How to Cook

On March 3, Rhodes College in Memphis, TN held their first Cooking Class. The idea came about at a Food Service Committee Meeting led by the student committee chair, Dan Schrader, during the fall semester. Students mentioned they would like to learn how to cook. Mary Kingery, Rhodes Food Service Director, said "no problem!" Since Rhodes Dining had recently added a Thai Chef to their team, the first cooking class theme was Thai Cuisine. The student food committee was in charge of setting up student registrations for each cooking class. The event was a huge success and fun was had by the students and the Rhodes Culinary team! Next month, students will be learning how to prepare authentic Italian Cuisine from Executive Chef Sam Sciara.
